Hallo Matthias,

I checked their web site and will give them a call to see if they have a system that I can use without the ridiculous Safe Pass limitations that BofA uses. The advantage of BofA is that it has branches all over the West and East Coast of the USA.

Sorry to hear about your problems finding a roof over your head and the bank. I would have been fed up with Bank of America a long time ago. Maybe it's time to move on and find a more international bank. Did you ever check out HSBC?

I see Mark's comment.... I also used my bank's "bill pay" service last year and it worked fine... to keep up with bills at home. Also kept tabs on my account so I could see how much was actually taken out when I took out 200 Euros for example.

Oohhhh sounds familiar. I learned the hard way not to use a bank card to get cash to pay someone... they put that in as a "cash advance" which is not what I asked for. Lesson learned. Since then I just use my Columbia Bank debit card for everything.... charge is 1%. I just learned that my credit cards AND my other (credit union) debit card charge 3% for everything. So now I'll stick with only my Col. bank debit card for everything. It pays to check all the banks' policies and fine print! Hope you find a good solution!

Hi Jack
After reading your struggles with the banking world. I would suggest
you put a water proof safe in your boat cabin and stash all your money in there.
I feel bad for you that this stupid thing happened with the banks. Frustration must now be your
favorite word.
Hope you find a good sollution for
this whole affair.

Thanks very much, Mark. "Cash Back" is an American convenience, not used here. Sofar I have not needed to get into my boat's emergency rations yet.

I just called boeing employees credit union and they charge a 1% currency exchange thru the mastercard wheather (+ whatever fee the local atm would charge you) it is a debit or credit, but did not mention an additional "fee". International wire transfers are $30. I wonder if you could buy stuff with your debit and then add a little for pocket scratch the way we do when we go to the grocery store. good luck, mark

Thanks, Mark. never thought of the bill pay option, but I suspect that this is only done to North American addresses.
Wire transfers are often not available at credit unions. But I will look into it, also if their bank card will work abroad.

so sorry and banking with BA is difficult. Online that have a program called "bill payer" that sends payments out after you fill out a little info. I wonder if you could send payments to yourself. Another option might be to switch banking to a credit union as commonly they have much lower fees and much better service. best wishes, mark
